Perinatal Therapy

Perinatal therapy focuses on the emotional wellness of mothers during pregnancy and the postpartum period. It encompasses the challenges and adjustments that women may experience. Maintaining positive maternal mental health is crucial for the overall health of both the mother and child, as it influences the quality of the parent-child relationships and overall family dynamics.

As a perinatal mental health therapist, I focus on the emotional well-being of a woman, her partner, and their infant. I focus on issues such as anxiety, depression, and identity that may arise during pregnancy or in the first year following the birth of a child. I also work with mamas who have experienced difficult births and infertility and are struggling to adjust to motherhood and manage day-to-day stress.

The focus of perinatal therapy:

  • Fertility Challenges, IVF
  • Pregnancy
  • Pregnancy loss, termination
  • Body image
  • Birth story, trauma, and injury
  • Preparing for and adjusting to postpartum through parenthood
  • Self-care
  • Identity Changes
  • Managing going back to work
  • Parenting with partner, intimacy, and sex postpartum
  • Attaching to baby
  • Perfectionism
  • Baby blues vs. postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD + PTSD
